Kannathil Muthamittal from the eyes of Indra

Kannathil Muthamittal is my all time favourite movie and every time I watch the movie there is something new that I notice. It amazes me how a movie that got released about 16 years ago is so of the age even now. The world that we live in knows only two kinds of love: the... Continue Reading →

The Blurred Boundaries

“What is coming will come, and we will meet it when it does.” - Hagrid The orange flames threw angry specks of dust at her. She stood there as fear embered down her body consuming her. Showers of hot flame crept over the place swallowing every particle on its path. Oh narrow ridge, stop burning so hard. She... Continue Reading →

Fleeting Thoughts

Stranded by the sea, there was water everywhere. One couldn't tell where the deep blue sea ended and the sky started. She* stood there like one of those statues watching the horizon. The monstrous waves hit her as hard as they could. The smell of salt in the breeze filled her nostrils stifling her. Her... Continue Reading →

Polaroid

Life can sometimes be a Polaroid. Static, happy, deceptive, dated and nobody knows what happened before or after the moment. Sometimes that's great because nobody needs to know the roller coaster ride that your mind is taking you through. It's easy to wrap everything that you feel in a beautiful gift wrapper and present it to the world rather than talking about it.

The Journey

This was the day that my mom warned me about 15 years ago. And, I wish I have at least half the courage that I had back then. I have never been good at consoling people who are mourning. Because I know that nothing I say or do will compensate their loss. 15 years back,... Continue Reading →

My Blue Elephant

I remember reading this somewhere when you ask a child to color something, she would happily pick a crayon and start coloring. She'd go out of the lines, fill the picture with colors from her weird imagination. You'd see blue elephants, red fields, and orange oceans. As she grows up people start molding her. They will want the child to color within the lines and see things they way they are - elephants are supposed to be grey, fields: green and oceans: blue.

13 Things Unchecked

Growing up has its own perks. You realize that you can be this strong independent person, manage your bills, sort out your investments, audit your taxes etc. Sometimes in the middle of all that you look at yourself and realize "Woah, I have actually changed". And, suddenly you are totally fine with it.  A lot of things change as you evolve into a better or not so better human being. Isn't change the only constant thing? Here are a few things that I really liked back then but ended up having an aversion towards it in the recent times. If we are on the same page, do let me know in the comments section below.

Emptiness it is

Scene 1: Varun is 9 years old What do you want to become when you grow up? Kid 1: Teacher. I want to be able to teach the kids everything that I have learned. Teacher: That's very sweet, my child. Kid 2: I want to become a doctor. Every time someone is not well, I... Continue Reading →

As Strong and Cold as an Iceberg

She walked slowly by the rain-kissed sidewalks, lit brightly by the neon lights of shops, bars, and restaurants. Rains in Chennai were her favorite, she jumped every puddle balancing her extremely large bag in one hand and her laptop in another. With every step, a light would go off or a baffling sound of the... Continue Reading →

Knock knock.

He stood by the shore as the waves tickled him seducively, looking at the full moon in all its glory. It has been a while since he felt this way about life - sweet, calm yet alarmingly sexy. He was the boy who grew up reading books like The Promise, Harry Potter and Scarlet Pimpernel.... Continue Reading →

You Cannot be his “Choice”

Are you happy about the fact that he chose you over another girl? Don't be. That's the worst thing he has done to you. Life is not a race, to be happy that you won. In fact, the loss is yours. He actually put you in a position where he had to choose, think about it.

Kaatru Veliyidai Kannamma

"Unaku Rohini eh pudikalana, enna pudikalana" By then, I was sitting at the edge of my seat, eyes welled up holding back the tears. Varun Chakarapani is hope. The guy who crosses 7 seas and 7 mountains in search of the girl he loves is hope. I am the kind of person who prefers watching... Continue Reading →

Happy Birthday, Harry!

The things that we love have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect. J.K Rowling was the reason why I started reading and she continues to be the reason I still do. The best thing today second to Harry and JKR's birthday is the... Continue Reading →

The Skeptical Question

The world is encumbered with different types of people. People are encumbered with loads of emotions. People who do soulmates, people who don't, and then sometimes people like me - the ambiguous ones, the skeptics. Life was not supposed to be this way, I was supposed to fall hopelessly in love with someone. A love that massively consumed me. A love that certainly was supposed to erupt like a volcano burst into flames and then ember forever. But then no, had that happened, I wouldn't be writing this blog!

The Love That Holds My World

Mom, I have been wanting to tell you this for a long time. Well, I know this is going to be pretty long, but you will have to spare your time in between you assiduous schedules because you have given rise to the most expressive and dramatic girl in the world who is just like... Continue Reading →
